2nd Lt. Arthur. Edward Arnold, 416th
(Edinburgh) Field Coy., R.E. (T.F.).
For conspicuous gallantry on -13th October, 1918.
In order to allow a surprise attack to be made on Aubigny-au-Bac it was necessary
to bridge quickly the 6O feet wide Canal de la Sensee. He carried out the task
in extreme darkness, the enemy being on the opposite bank, and it was due to his determination and energy that the attack was able to take place successfully.
He was the first man to cross this bridge when, completed.
